On Saturday mornings, we're in the city selling at the Edgewater Farmers Market. It's a great little market in the Edgewater neighborhood full of great produce, ice cream and natural goods. Last Saturday was our first day and it was a great experience. We loved meeting all the market regulars from the neighborhood and enjoyed the nice cool breeze off the lake.
On Sunday mornings, we're in the southwest suburb of Frankfort at the Frankfort Country Market. We've been there a few weeks on and off now and we're really enjoying it. This is another great farmers market full of fresh produce salsas and dips, flowers and a number of other great products. We've had so much fun meeting the other vendors and the families that come through each week. We're really looking forward to a great summer sharing our sweet treats!
We've also been busy working on some special events. Last weekend, we had the pleasure of making a wedding cake for our friend's brother. The colors for the wedding were chocolate brown with pink accents. The bride requested raspberry and lemon flavors so we made a really yummy vanilla bean cake filled with lemon curd and raspberry preserves. It was then covered in brown fondant and decorated with fuchsia ribbon and fresh pink flowers including roses, Peruvian lilies, and Snapdragons. Check it out:
Oh, it was such a fun cake to make! I loved the flavors and the colors that the bride chose. I can only imagine how beautiful the wedding was. The event space was in beautiful restaurant downtown that was full of dark wood and decorated in lovely pink and orange flowers. It looked like it was going to be a great day for the bride and groom!
We're looking forward to another great weekend. Now it's off to the kitchen!
